Bingle's Community Service: Building Experience
Paul Bingle for Columbus City Council
Sometime in 1984, when he complained about a community event being less than its potential, the
organization leader challenged Bingle to 'take-on' the project.  Ever since then, he has been
routinely invested in multiple projects that have a common characteristic of improving the quality
of life in his community.  Some of his activities have been:

  • He has supported the annual Clintonville Homes Tour for the past 22 years, having served in
the past as Chair and marketing coordinator and more recently as treasurer.
  • He has supported the Clintonville Area Commission for the past 18 years, having served in
the past as elections coordinator, representative commissioner ('92 - '99), Secretary, Chair,
Physical Services Committee Chair, and archivist.  Since 1999, he has participated in various
    task forces and committees.
  • He co-founded Strategic Clintonville/Clintonville Community Fund in 1995, having served as
the charity's President and Secretary, and presently as Treasurer.
  • He co-founded Clintonville July 4th Celebration, in 1999, having served as President for three
    years.
  • He has supported the Whetstone Recreation Center Community Council for three years,
    having served as Treasurer.
  • He has supported the Whetstone Renovation Initiative by serving as Treasurer for its past two
    years.
  • He has served as a Presiding Judge for the Franklin County Board of Elections in various
Clintonville precincts for the past ten years.
  • He has supported various political campaigns for school and City issues and for candidates
    from both political parties.
  • He has supported PTA and Boy Scout organizations when his two older sons were younger.
  • He has served as a director on local and national charity boards for National Alliance for
Choice in Giving, Coalition of Environmental Federations, and Columbus Metropolitan Club in
the past and Earth Share presently.

"My community work has provided a rich experience in dissecting community
challenges, in working with partnerships where differing points of view are welcomed,
and in nurturing creative and sometimes untraditional approaches to reach a
productive consensus that benefits the broad community.  The diversity of passions,
interests, and  approaches by my neighbors has been an inspiration to try to do more
in addressing the never ending parade of community challenges of a metropolitan
    city."  - Paul Bingle
